A new source of information for Chelsea and Beyond!
Chelsea, Quebec: Neighbourhoods
Chelsea is full of interesting neighbourhoods and homes. I really don't think there are two homes the same in Chelsea or two lots the same. Each neighbourhood, lot and home offers a different living experience and the most fun is had by driving around and seeing the areas. Each year residents with children look forward to the slew of birthday parties, sledding/skating/broomball parties and deck parties that occur so that a glimse of the many unique homes can be had.
Today I will write about Meech Lake as it is my neighbourhood and so the easiest for me to talk about. Meech Lake is famous and infamous. We have The Prime Minister of Canada cottaging at the end of our road and we have two huge historic homes used for government meetings (The Meech Lake Accord) at the beginning of our road. Inbetween are situated a mixture of all season homes, all season executive homes, cottages, shacks, vacant park land and stairs to nowhere (cottages have been taken down).
This summer there have been three beautiful homes for sale at Meech Lake and now one more has come up for sale. One home is situated at the far end of Meech Lake with the home situated on the same side of the road as the waterfront and huge dock - this is rare as most homes are located across the road from their waterfront - it's a Quebec lake thing. This home was built fairly recently (7 yrs) and is private with great views of a fairly wide part of Meech Lake - Century 21 McIntyre has it listed as SOLD. The sellers have three teenagers now and outgrew this 'cottage'.
Another executive home that is for sale this year is located off the Meech Lake road on La Charité (an original homesteader of the lake) tucked into a very private yet sunny, airy acreage surrounded by the Gatineau Park and bordered by a large stream.

Auberge Old Chelsea B and B
Finally a B & B in Chelsea!
Chelsea, Quebec is finally getting what it was missing - a Bed and Breakfast in the Old Chelsea Sector of town. Up to now accommodations for visitors were located north of Old Chelsea or in the city. Manon Leblanc of the Old Chelsea Slip Cover Company has decided to diversify and welcome visitors to Chelsea to stay at her centrally located, beautifully decorated home. Located kitty-corner to the coffee shop, Les Saisons, the B & B boasts a secluded backyard with covered deck, lawn, and million-year old granite outcroppings. It is a short walk to the Gatineau Park Information Centre and the start of the Park Trails. Kayaks and bikes are available to rent and the famous (infamous) Meech Lake is located down the road where you can launch your kayak or go for a swim at the public beaches.
